Hydro Attack is not a jet boat, and it is the most unusual thing on the water in Queenstown. The machine is a Seabreacher X, a semi-submersible shaped like a shark, and you ride it one at a time with a pilot rather than as part of a boatload. The operator describes itself as the world's first commercial operator of these craft.
Fifteen minutes is the whole ride, and the operator quotes 80 kph across the surface and 40 kph under it. The sequence is skimming the lake, diving beneath it, then pointing at the sky and launching clear of the water before re-entry. The cockpit is sealed and dry, so unlike every jet boat here you are not expecting to get wet.
Because it is one-on-one, the pilot tailors the ride between mild and wild, which makes it the most adjustable experience in the catalogue. Departures are from Queenstown Bay on the central lakefront, with check-in at the Hydro Attack kiosk on Steamer Wharf 15 minutes beforehand. Video packages cost extra.

The Hydro Shark Attack ride was an absolute thrill from start to finish! The speed, sharp turns, and adrenaline-pumping jumps had us excited and holding on the whole time. the staff operating hydro attack were excellent. It was very choppy the day due to ride so everyone was taken to cslm water on the lake so they didnt miss out. Sadly my husband was unable to complete the ride related to arthritis in his hips he was unable to bring his knees up close enough to let the driver in. He met the criteria height and weight wise but we didnt take into consideration flexability. Again the crew were very gracious.

Do you get wet?
